Florida Hospital ranked number one on The American Hospital Association's recently released its “25 Busiest Community Hospital Emergency Departments” list.
With more than 272,000 emergency room visits in 2002, Florida Hospital’s seven Central Florida campuses’ numbers towered above other hospitals across the country including LAC-USC Medical Center in Los Angeles and Jackson Memorial Hospital in Miami.
“Florida Hospital is pround of our excellent staff and physicians who provide top-quality emergent care to hundreds of thousands of patients a year,” said Kathleen Tiedeken, Assistant Vice President, Critical Care and Emergency Services for FH. “However, this ranking just reinforces the need for more healthcare services in the Central Florida area. Our multiple hospital expansion projects will help meet the increasing demand while improving upon the excellent care that patients have come to expect at Florida Hospital.”
With seven hospitals and 14 Centra Care walk-in medical centers, Florida Hospital is one of the largest hospital systems in the country, caring for almost one-million patients every year. In fact, Florida Hospital treats more inpatients than any other hospital system in the country.
Florida Hospital specializes in a wide range of health services for the entire family, including many nationally and internationally recognized programs in cardiology, cancer, women’s medicine, neurology, diabetes, orthopaedics and rehabilitation. In addition to serving Central Florida residents, Florida Hospital serves as a major tertiary referral hospital throughout the Southeastern United States, the Caribbean and South America. For the last five years, Florida Hospital has been recognized as one the best hospitals in the country by U.S.News & World Report.
