“We are honored that Central Florida has once again chosen Florida Hospital as the most preferred hospital,” said Lars Houmann, President and CEO of Florida Hospital. “This distinction reflects the commitment of our nurses, doctors, and staff living our mission, providing the highest quality of care, and ensuring the best patient experience for our community.”
The National Research Corporation has named Florida Hospital one of the nation's top hospitals in its list of 2007-08 Consumer Choice Award winners. The award identifies hospitals that local residents have chosen as having the highest quality and image in 154 markets throughout the United States. In a survey of over 140,000 households nationwide, Florida Hospital was voted as having the Orlando area’s highest overall quality and image.
This is the 12th year that National Research Corporation has awarded hospitals whose consumers have recognized them for providing quality health-care services, and the 12th year Florida Hospital has been an award winner.
The award is based on National Research Corporation's 2007/2008 Healthcare Market Guide, the nation's largest and most comprehensive study of its kind. Of the more than 3,000 hospitals named by consumers in the study, the winning facilities rank highest in their regions. Specifically, the criteria considered in the composite score included best doctors, best nurses, best overall quality and image and reputation.
With seven hospitals and 16 Centra Care locations, Florida Hospital is one of the largest not-for-profit hospitals in the country, caring for more than a million patients per year – that’s more than any other hospital in the country, according to the American Hospital Association. The more than 1,900-bed system, has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals in the country for the past nine years.
