Soon-to-be mom Erinn Ridley, who is seven months pregnant, just received an email newsletter from Florida Hospital saying her baby is “beginning to act like a baby” – he can cry, suck his thumb, have hiccups, and even recognize familiar voices! She also has an email reminder for her upcoming OB/GYN appointment so she won’t forget.
These messages Ridley received in her inbox are part of Florida Hospital’s new Health-e, a free online service that now allows Central Floridians to sign up for appointment reminders and personalized health information on a variety of topics that affects them. Health-e newsletter topics include everything from pregnancy, breast cancer, and heart disease to exercise, weight management, and stroke rehabilitation. Subscribers can sign up to receive health appointment reminders and reminders for themselves and their family members.
“Florida Hospital is committed to building a healthier community and extending our healing mission,” said Des Cummings, vice president of Business Development at Florida Hospital. “Health-e is a valuable online tool that gives subscribers pertinent and applicable health information in an easy-to-use format. We hope the community will find this to be a useful resource and help them learn more about their health in a convenient way.”
As part of Health-e, pregnant women like Ridley can sign up for the free monthly newsletter, My Baby Expectations. The newsletter allows moms to enter in their due date and receive month-by-month information about their physical and emotional changes throughout the pregnancy as well as the baby’s development. Subscribers can also receive tips on how to prepare for the baby’s arrival, a checklist to help make the delivery day (and the months after) go more smoothly, and month-by-month guidelines for the new parents during the baby’s first year.
