Three Florida Hospital Campuses Receive Prestigious Quality Award

Premier Award for Quality recognizes high-quality care and operational efficiency

Today, Florida Hospital announced that three of its campuses have been recognized by the Premier Inc. healthcare alliance as winners of the Premier Award for Quality in the area of Heart Failure.  The recognized campuses are Florida Hospital Apopka, Florida Hospital East Orlando, and Florida Hospital Celebration Health.

Representatives from each Florida Hospital campus accepted the awards at the 2006 Premier Annual Breakthroughs Conference & Exhibition in Orlando this morning.

“Florida Hospital is committed to consistently providing the best quality health care services to our patients and extending our healing ministry to those patients,” said Dr. Lee Adler, vice president and chief quality and safety officer at Florida Hospital. “Receiving this prestigious award specifically recognizes our efforts in our cardiac services area and demonstrates our commitment to quality and efficient health care in our hospitals.”

The Premier Award for Quality is based on quality and cost data regularly submitted to Premier for reporting and benchmarking purposes. The award is distinguished by its consideration of performance-based criteria, including clinical quality outcomes, clinical process indicators and resource utilization outcomes.

“The Premier Award for Quality honors clinical excellence in both quality of care and operational efficiency, differentiating its winners as industry leaders that deliver outstanding patient care while reducing the cost of healthcare by improving resource utilization,” said Stephanie Alexander, senior vice president and general manager of Premier Healthcare Informatics.

Hospitals that submitted data to Premier’s Perspective™  clinical comparative database, the largest clinical comparative database in the nation, between October 2004 and September 2005, were eligible to receive the 2006 Premier Award for Quality.
