Demolition Day for Loch Haven Building

The skyline is changing around Florida Hospital Orlando. Florida Hospital Orlando’s Chief Operating Officer Randy Haffner donned a hard hat and operated a track hoe to kick off the demolition that will make way for the hospital’s expansion project. On October 5 Florida Hospital employees watched as demolition crews began to tear down the Loch Haven building (a Florida Hospital physician building across the street from the hospital). This was the first in a series of buildings that will be leveled in order to make room for the new 15-story patient tower that is expected to be completed in 2008. The 40-year-old, 17,688 square foot building is being torn down to make way for the expansion of a parking garage which will provide 486 more spaces for Florida Hospital employees and patients. “Florida Hospital recognizes that additional healthcare services and facilities are urgently needed in order to provide quality care and service for our patients,” said Haffner. All seven of Florida Hospital campuses are expanding to meet the growing needs of the community, with major projects underway at three campuses. Those plans include a 75-bed tower and larger emergency room at Florida Hospital Altamonte and at Florida Hospital East Orlando a four-story, 80-bed addition. |
