Florida Hospital Orlando’s Ginsburg Tower Becomes Model for South American Hospital

Florida Hospital and La Clinica Good Hope Miaflores Expand Partnership

For more than seven years, Florida Hospital has had a partnership with several healthcare facilities in Peru.  And now, one of those healthcare facilities will look just like Florida Hospital.  La Clinica Good Hope Miraflores, located in a district in Peru’s capital city Lima, is building a new patient tower modeled after the Ginsburg Tower, which is currently under construction at Florida Hospital Orlando.  During the first week of May, several representatives from La Clinica Good Hope Miraflores will visit Florida Hospital to learn more about the hospital’s clinical areas, design, architecture, facilities, and operations.

The Ginsburg Tower at Florida Hospital Orlando is a 15-story patient tower named for Alan H. Ginsburg and the Ginsburg Family Foundation in recognition of their $20 million gift to Florida Hospital, the largest gift in the hospital’s history.  When complete in late 2008, the Ginsburg Tower at Florida Hospital Orlando will contain the Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute, 440 patient beds (200 upon completion and 240 future beds), and one of the largest Emergency Departments in the country.

La Clinica Good Hope Miraflores is also expanding its facility and will build Project Good Hope, a five-story patient tower modeled after the Ginsburg tower.  The new patient tower will include Emergency Department services and at least 35 new patient beds.  Architects from Hunton Brady, who designed the Ginsburg Tower, have provided animated renderings of the expansion in Miraflores.  The project is scheduled to begin in late summer or early fall.

The two hospitals, which share a Seventh-day Adventist heritage, will also expand their partnership over the coming months.  In August, representatives from La Clinica Good Hope Miraflores will return to observe the Nicholson Center for Surgical Advancement, a premier center for hands-on surgical training that develops and disseminates cutting edge surgical knowledge and techniques to the global surgical community through state-of-the-art teleconferencing technology.  In addition, the healthcare facilities are starting a physician exchange program beginning with general surgery.

About La Clinica Good Hope
La Clinica Good Hope Miraflores is a medical institution dedicated to taking care of the health of families.  With the latest technology and modern infrastructure, the healthcare facility specializes in inpatient needs, emergency services, diagnostics, maternity and pediatrics.  The clinic is part of the Seventh-day Adventist Church and a network of more than 300 medical institutions in the world who work to maintain health.

About Florida Hospital
With eight hospitals and 16 Centra Care locations, Florida Hospital is one of the largest not-for-profit hospitals in the country, caring for more than a million patient visits per year – that’s more than any other hospital in the country, according to the American Hospital Association.  The more than 2,000-bed system has been recognized by U.S. News & World Report as one of the best hospitals in the country for the past nine years.  Florida Hospital also has partnerships with hospitals and healthcare facilities in other countries including Mexico, Jamaica, and Germany.  Florida Hospital is still raising money for the Ginsburg Tower at Florida Hospital Orlando that will cost an estimated $255 million.  The tower is scheduled to be complete in late 2008, when Florida Hospital marks its 100th year of service to the Central Florida community.
