Florida Hospital Welcomes New Surgeon and Residency Faculty Member

Surgical Specialists of Florida Hospital, located in the Florida Hospital Orlando Medical Plaza, is pleased to welcome Dr. Rhonda Harmon to its medical staff.

Harmon joins Dr. Joseph Portoghese, Dr. Louis Barr and Dr. Alric Simmonds as the group’s fourth surgeon since the general surgery office opened in April 2006.

In addition to seeing patients at Surgical Specialists of Florida Hospital, Harmon also serves as a faculty member for the Florida Hospital General Surgery Residency Program.

Prior to joining Surgical Specialists of Florida Hospital in June 2007, Harmon served as assistant professor of surgery at the University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center. She earned her medical degree from the Medical University of South Carolina.

Harmon completed her general surgery residency at Washington Hospital Center in Washington, DC, where she was also named Chief Resident. Harmon is board certified in General Surgery by the American Board of Surgery.
