If you are looking for an excuse to indulge in a sweet treat, now you can do it for a good cause. “Sweet! By Good Golly Miss Holly” has whipped up a new cupcake recipe in honor of Florida Hospital’s Centennial Celebration that begins on Nov. 24. The gourmet cupcake shop is helping Florida Hospital kick off this major medical milestone by selling giant and miniature red velvet cupcakes specially designed with the Florida Hospital 100-year logo. From November 2008 to November 2009, the giant cupcakes are available for only $45 or mini cupcakes are available by the dozen for only $39.50, and 30 percent of the Centennial cupcake proceeds will be donated to Florida Hospital’s cardiovascular program. “As Florida Hospital’s cardiovascular program grows, we are so grateful for these generous contributions from the community,” said Terry Newmyer, chief development officer for the Florida Hospital Foundation. “It is support like this that helps Florida Hospital continue as a leader in health care. And, cupcakes are a perfect way to celebrate our 100th birthday!” Cupcakes are all the hype in Hollywood, and Sweet! quickly moved the trend to Orlando. Sweet! by Good Golly Miss Holly – The Nation's First Gourmet Cupcake & Yogurt Shop – is a unique, one-of-a-kind, fun and friendly shop that produces a variety of gourmet cupcakes and sensational frozen tart yogurt. “It is so important to give back to the community, and what better way to do so than to donate to an organization that helps to save lives each and every day,” said Hollis Wilder, founder and CEO of Sweet! “We are so thrilled to partner with Florida Hospital during this exciting time in its history to use our unique services in a way that benefits a good cause.” On Oct. 14, Florida Hospital celebrated its official 100th birthday of providing health care in Central Florida. One hundred years ago, Florida Hospital – now a seven-campus system that sees more patients than any other hospital in the country – began with $4.83 in a farmhouse on the shore of Lake Estelle. Lining the banks today are multiple buildings that make up Florida Hospital Orlando, the flagship institution of the system. Florida Hospital will kick off its year-long Centennial Celebration on Nov. 24 with a community event followed by the opening of the newest addition to the Orlando skyline – the Ginsburg Tower at Florida Hospital Orlando – on Nov. 25. This 15-story patient tower is now the tallest hospital building in the state and will house one of the largest Emergency Departments and one of the largest cardiac catheterization labs in the country. |
