Giant Letters on State’s Tallest Hospital Building Pay Tribute to Florida Hospital’s Largest Gift
|
|
WHAT: These letters, each measuring 7 feet tall and together measuring half the height of the 15-story patient tower, spell out Ginsburg and are now permanently engraved into architectural precast concrete on the building. They were revealed for the first time in a special ceremony honoring Alan H. Ginsburg and his family, for whom the hospital is named. BKGRD: The Ginsburg Tower at Florida Hospital Orlando, the tallest hospital building in the state, is named for Alan H. Ginsburg (noted developer, philanthropist, and Central Floridian) and the Ginsburg Family Foundation in recognition of their $20 million gift to Florida Hospital, the largest gift in the hospital’s history. The Ginsburg Tower at Florida Hospital Orlando will contain the Florida Hospital Cardiovascular Institute, 440 patient beds (200 upon completion and 240 future beds), and one of the largest Emergency Departments in the country. Florida Hospital is still raising money for the expansion project that will cost an estimated $255 million. The tower is scheduled to be complete in late 2008, when Florida Hospital marks its 100th year of service to the Central Florida community. WHO: The following people will be present at Friday’s ceremony: WHEN: Friday, October 19, 2007 WHERE: In front of the Ginsburg Tower at Florida Hospital Orlando
