WHAT: This week, Florida Hospital Celebration Health is marking its 10th year of service to the community.  And on Wednesday, November 14, 2007, Florida Hospital Celebration Health Administrator Dr. Monica Reed shared the hospital’s expansion plans at a breakfast for community leaders.  To meet the growing needs of the community, Florida Hospital Celebration Health plans to add four new Operating Rooms (ORs), bringing the total number of ORs to 11.  In addition, the hospital will add new technology, shell space, and space for support services.   

DETAILS: Osceola County is one of the fastest growing counties in the United States, and that growth is reflected in the increasing number of patients coming to Florida Hospital Celebration Health.  In fact, surgery volumes have grown substantially over the past three years.  The new ORs will allow greater capacity to accommodate the growing surgical volumes.  They will also showcase new technology such as robotic surgery, OR integration, and 3-D technology.  Since the hospital’s ORs are on the third floor, the first and second floors will also be expanded.  The first floor will contain support services such as materials management, and the second floor will contain shelled space for future growth.  Florida Hospital Celebration Health plans to begin construction in the first quarter of next year.  The expansion will cost approximately $16 million.

INFORMATION: The long-term master plan for Florida Hospital Celebration Health includes a total of two new patient towers.  If funding is secured, work could start on one of the new patient towers as early as next year.  That patient tower would be approximately 120,000-square-feet and would include 120 patient beds at an estimated cost of $125 million.

BACKROUND: To meet the escalating needs of the community, earlier this year Florida Hospital Celebration Health added a 10-bed Rapid-In-And-Out (RIO) Unit and six new Emergency Department (ED) beds (bringing the total number of ED beds to 28), expanded the ED waiting area which now seats nearly 70 people, and added a play area and business center in the ED waiting area.  Florida Hospital Celebration Health is a cutting-edge destination hospital that specializes in minimally invasive surgical procedures.  This health and wellness center provides inpatient and outpatient services, 24-hour emergency care, maternity, cardiac services, diagnostic, catheterization, wellness programs, women's and men's health programs, as well as primary care and specialty physicians on-site. As Florida Hospital Celebration Health continues to expand, it will depend on the generous philanthropic support of the community.
