Imagine waiting in the Emergency Department while a loved one sees a doctor and still being able to receive an email, change a flight, print directions, or research a diagnosis. Now patients and their loved ones in the Emergency Department at Florida Hospital Celebration Health will have access to a visitor business center designed for their use during their visit. To enhance the patient experience and help families stay connected, Florida Hospital Celebration Health has added two computers with internet access and two printers. “Often when people have to visit the Emergency Department, it is unexpected. We added the visitor business center to help our guests make necessary arrangements and stay connected during their wait. It allows our patients and their families who are here on vacation to contact loved ones to let them know of travel delays, change travel plans, and print flight reservations. It also gives all of our guests an opportunity to send an email, use the internet to look up health information, or even play a game to pass the time,” said Debbie Laughon, director of Emergency Services at Florida Hospital Celebration Health.
The Emergency Department at Florida Hospital Celebration Health expects to see more than 50,000 patients this year. To meet the growing healthcare needs of Osceola County, the Emergency Department added six new beds earlier this year, bringing the total number of Emergency Department beds to 28. In addition, the waiting area was expanded to seat nearly 70 people and to include a separate play area for children
