MRI, or magnetic resonance imaging, uses a non-radiation imaging technique to produce high-quality images of bones, soft tissues, and hard tissues. The new MRI will allow technicians to do more diagnostic testing in more areas. “This generous donation from the Apopka Women’s Club will help us develop a state-of-the-art MRI tool at Florida Hospital Apopka which in turn will benefit the community by allowing us to provide more advanced MRI services,” said Verbelee Nielsen-Swanson, Florida Hospital Apopka administrator. “This is one of the steps we are taking to become a full-service hospital by 2020.” To aid this goal, Florida Hospital Apopka is trying to raise $1 million to purchase the Excite Platform software that is necessary to upgrade an existing MRI to state-of-the-art status. Florida Hospital Apopka is also in the process of expanding its facilities. Expected to be complete by the end of Summer 2006, the expanded campus will feature a 49,000-square-foot medical office building and a new atrium/destination lobby connected to the hospital. |
