Florida Hospital Apopka Breaks Ground for Expansion

New medical office building to be complete in late 2005

Florida Hospital Apopka broke ground on its 55,000-square foot hospital expansion on Wednesday, November 17. The ceremony took place on the hospital’s front lawn with Apopka Mayor John Land and Florida Hospital President Don Jernigan. A rendering of the expansion highlighted by a three-story, 42,000-square-foot medical office building was unveiled by Florida Hospital Apopka Administrator Verbelee Nielsen-Swanson.

“This expansion will allow Florida Hospital Apopka to serve as a health care destination for northwest Orange County,” said Nielsen-Swanson. “The new medical office building will enable us to bring to Apopka additional primary care and specialty physicians, so that we can better meet the needs of our developing community.”

With service to 50,000 patients and their families this year, the expansion project will reposition the Apopka campus and allow the hospital to continue to serve one of the most rapidly growing communities in Central Florida. The expansion includes a three-story medical office building, a destination entrance and lobby, expanded patient registration, a chapel and healing garden, a café and vending areas, and additional surface parking.
