Due to increasing capacity issues, Florida Hospital Altamonte will begin building a new 75-bed patient tower in early 2005, with plans for completion by the end of 2006. The estimated 185,000-square-foot expansion will include a new and expanded emergency department, inpatient beds for both ICU and PCU, as well as a new lobby and proposed ambulatory and recovery expansions.

"These expansion projects are a critical part of our master plan to meet the future health care needs of the community," said Terry Owen, COO for Florida Hospital Altamonte.

The first phase of the mast plan, which included the relocation and construction of a new 12-bed Rapid In and Out, is not complete. In addition, FH Altamonte recently began construction on tis new 875-space, five-story parking garage, which will be complete by the end of summer.
