Florida Hospital Altamonte Breaks Ground on Expansion Project

WHAT: Seminole County is booming with growth. As more people move to the County, the need for health care services continues to rise. In an effort to accommodate health care demands, Florida Hospital Altamonte is breaking ground on a major expansion project that will add a 6-story patient tower, inpatient beds and an expanded emergency department. The expansion project is expected to cost about $70 million. Florida Hospital relies on community gifts to ensure that excellence is delivered, so we can continue to meet Central Florida’s growing health care demands. The project, scheduled for completion in the summer of 2007, will also include: WHY: Over the past three years, Florida Hospital has seen a 35 percent increase in inpatient volumes. In addition, every month, an estimated 4,000 people move to Central Florida. Almost 400,000 people live in Seminole County. Florida Hospital Altamonte already sees approximately more than 42,000 emergency department visits, more than 106,000 outpatient visits, and almost 17,000 inpatient visits each year. The expansion planned for Florida Hospital Altamonte is one of several major expansion projects in the works for the Florida Hospital system. Florida Hospital Orlando, Florida Hospital East Orlando and Florida Hospital Winter Park are also adding new patient towers, while Florida Hospital Kissimmee, Florida Hospital Celebration Health, and Florida Hospital Apopka are making significant facility improvements and additions.
