May 11, 2004—Orlando, FL—When Orlando magic guard Tracy McGrady stepped onto the court for this year’s NBA All-Star game in Los Angeles, it was the children of Central Florida who were the real winners. That’s because for every point the fan-favorite scored, T-Mac donated $1,000 to the Florida Children’s Hospital at Florida Hospital. Thirteen points and $13,000 later, the nurses doctors, staff, and patients at Florida Children’s Hospital thanked the NBA superstar by dedicating a room in his name.
On Thursday, March 11, coming off his career high 62-point game, Tracy McGrady scored even bigger with the kids at Florida Hospital. Armed with Magic mementos, T-Mac visited the rooms of sick children, signing autographs and spreading smiles. Then in a short ceremony, Florida Hospital administrators thanked Tracy McGrady for his generous donation by dedicating a room in his name. T-Mac’s donation will go toward patient care equipment to expand services in the Neonatal Intensive Care unit at Florida Hospital.
