Camp Boggy Creek Brings Summer Fun to Sick Children at Florida Children’s Hospital

Thanks to a special visit from the counselors of Camp Boggy Creek, the pediatric patients at Florida Children’s Hospital at Florida Hospital Orlando will get a chance to experience summer camp while in the hospital. The kids will spend the day creating arts and crafts, playing camp games, and belting out songs around a pretend campfire.

WHAT: Tuesday, August 21, these little campers will spend the afternoon laughing and acting silly with the Camp Boggy Creek counselors.  They will even enjoy a summer beach party with snow cones, face painting, a seashell necklace craft project, and beach ball games in the playroom.  Be there tomorrow to see these pediatric patients enjoy summer fun while in the hospital.

BACKGROUND: Florida Children’s Hospital is a 138 specialty bed “hospital within a hospital” that allows Florida Hospital to deliver a complete range of dedicated and specialized pediatric health services to younger patients, who benefit from the expertise of specialized departments throughout the hospital.

Camp Boggy Creek is a year round residential camp for children with chronic or life threatening illnesses. It enriches their lives by creating camping experiences that are memorable, exciting, fun, empowering, physically safe and medically sound…all at no cost to the children or their families.  (www.BoggyCreek.org)
