Virtual Reality: Hospital Style Monday June 28, 2004
Physicians use simulation in 80-foot laboratory on wheels.
WHAT: It’s not your typical virtual reality video game. Rather, Florida Hospital physicians will use the popular computer technology to learn more about heart failure and coronary artery disease when an 80-foot semi truck equipped with two virtual cath labs park in front of the hospital next week.
Electrophysiology (EP) physicians will enhance their techniques in a highly sophisticated, risk-free, simulated medical setting using a life-size virtual “patient” that displays vital signs, creating a truly realistic environment.
I-VIEW/PHOTO OPPS:
Tours of the semi truck and interviews with Florida Hospital physicians as they train on the virtual reality system.
Representatives from Medtronic that run the bus and train the hospital employees will be available for interviews all day.
WHEN: Monday June 28 - 30, 2004
WHERE:
Florida Hospital Orlando 601 E. Rollins Street
