WHAT: While most women spend a majority of their time juggling their families and careers and, its easy put off taking care of their own health care needs. That is why Florida Hospital has teamed up with Walt Disney World for “Check Up For Life.” The breast cancer awareness program, “Check Up For Life” brings together women who will share their inspirational breast cancer stories and challenge Disney World Cast Members to take a proactive approach when it comes to their breast health.
The 250 female Cast Members will laugh and cry together as Dr. Winnie King walks the audience through the entire process of detecting, treating, and living with breast cancer. This interactive talk show will feature segments on the importance of finding time in your busy schedule to get a yearly mammogram, a question and answer session with a Florida Hospital Cancer Institute doctor, and stories from breast cancer survivors on life after cancer.
October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. This year alone more than 200,000 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer. This free program is offered to Cast Members as part of the “Disney Difference” – offerings that make Disney a unique employer in Central Florida.
