Today representatives from Panera Bread and Chrysler/Jeep presented the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute with a $40,000 donation to help establish the Image Recovery Center at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute.
During National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Panera Bread and the Orlando Area Chrysler Dealers partnered together to create a community awareness campaign educating Central Florida women about the importance of getting a mammogram. The advertising campaign encouraged individuals to visit a local Panera Bread Bakery Café and purchase a special Pink Ribbon Bagel. A portion of the sale from each bagel was donated to the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute. As a result, Panera Bread working together with local residents and community minded businesses raised $40,000 for the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute.
The Image Recovery Center is designed to help women, men, and children regain their natural appearance during and after cancer therapy. “By relieving patients’ anxiety and concerns related to appearance, we enable them to devote that energy to recovery, said Leslie Aldrich, Administrator Florida Hospital Cancer Institute. We hope this service will allow patients to feel in control of their lives with a strong sense of self confidence and renewed moral.” Set in a spa-like environment, the Image Recovery Center at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute will include services like:
• Individual management plans • Dedicated children’s area • Complete line of wigs, hats, sleep caps, scarves, fittings and styling services for total or partial hair loss. • Manicures and pedicures • Make-up, skin care, and body products (non-metallic deodorants, shampoos, etc.) • Unique and styling clothes, jewelry, and accessories • Educational materials
