Annually, world-renowned artist, Luis Sottil paints special pieces called Hearts of Hope, which are hearts painted by children who have cancer at the Florida Children’s Hospital with finishing touches added by Sottil himself. The vibrant and dramatic Hearts of Hope are then auctioned off with proceeds benefiting programs for kids with cancer.
Last year, Sandra Thomas, purchased two pieces of Sottil’s artwork at Florida Hospital’s Golden Gala XXV, Central Florida’s largest fundraiser. Today, Thomas donated one piece, “Annie’s Heart” to be displayed in the Pediatric Oncology office of the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute to encourage cancer patients. “Annie’s Heart” was painted last year on Valentine’s Day by a patient at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute. Now this artwork will be on display for others to see all year long.
The Children's Center for Cancer and Blood Diseases at Florida Hospital Cancer Institute offers advanced technology and expertise for diagnosing and treating childhood cancers, childhood blood disorders, and all inherited and acquired bleeding disorders, including hemophilia.
