During the month of October, in honor of National Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Panera Bread, local Chrysler dealers, and the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute have teamed up to help in the battle against breast cancer. Every time someone purchases a Pink Ribbon Bagel™ or test drives a Chrysler/Jeep vehicle they are helping to establish the Image Recovery Center at the Florida Hosptial Cancer Institute. One in seven women could develop breast cancer in their lifetime. Early detection is the key in the fight against breast cancer. During Breast Cancer Awareness Month, the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute is encouraging all women to make breast health education, regular breast self-exams, and annual mammography screening a regular part of their lifestyle. To make that even easier, Florida Hospital’s Breast Care Coordinator is providing women with a priority appointment for a screening mammogram during the month of October only. The Pink Ribbon Bagel™, which features cherry chips and real bits of Bing cherries and cranberries, is Panera’s representation of the pink ribbon that is widely identified with support of breast cancer research. During the month of October, every time someone purchases a Pink Ribbon Bagel™ a donation of .25 will be made to the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute. The special, limited-time-only bagel is available at any of the 17 locations throughout the Central Florida area and special Coffee Talk events happening throughout the month of October. “Breast cancer affects us all. The Pink Ribbon Bagel is a simple way the community can support breast cancer efforts in their own backyard,” said Gavin Ford, owner/operator of Panera Bread. The public can also support the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute by test driving a new Chrysler/Jeep vehicle during the month of October. As a thank you for taking a test drive, participants will receive a $25 Panera gift card. *Limit 1 per household. Available at participating dealers throughout October 31st while supplies last. “One of the hardest parts of cancer treatment is the temporary or permanent physical changes, such as hair loss, skin discoloration, and scarring that accompany some treatment options,” said Thresa Holden, breast cancer coordinator at the Florida Hospital Cancer Institute. “The Image Recovery Center provides services to address beauty and make-up adjustments, skin and hair needs, and mastectomy-related needs in a private, spa-like environment.” For more information contact Florida Hospital Media Relations at 407-303-8217. |
