The Florida Hospital Cancer Institute (FHCI) provides a comprehensive continuum of services ranging from disease prediction and prevention to state-of-the-art detection, treatment and research - encompassed by educational, psychological and spiritual support.
The FHCI treats over 3,800 newly diagnosed cancer patients each year - more than any other program in Florida. The FHCI is accredited as a Community Comprehensive Cancer Center by the American College of Surgeons Commission on Cancer, is a National Comprehensive Cancer Network (NCCN) affiliate, and offers various locations throughout Central Florida. In addition to caring for patients diagnosed with cancer, the FHCI is actively involved in basic and clinical cancer research to seek new ways to detect, treat and prevent disease. ONCOLOGY NURSING STAFF RANKED AMONG THE TOP 20 PERCENT IN THE COUNTRY for care and compassion, according to a recent Gallup survey. Florida Hospital Cancer Institute nurses are specially trained and certified in oncology.
CONTINUALLY BRINGING THE LATEST ADVANCES IN TECHNOLOGY AND THERAPIES TO CENTRAL FLORIDA. PET/CT helps us diagnose advanced cancer often with greater accuracy than conventional imaging. Intensity Modulated Radiotherapy (IMRT) is a treatment modality that minimizes the radiation dose to normal or nearby critical organs. In addition, over 1,000 patients have benefited from Gamma Knife® radiosurgery - brain surgery without an incision - since 1996. The FHCI also offers the newest MRI technology - Brain Spectroscopy - to analyze and diagnose tumors and other tissues without surgery.
